Our programs are aligned to United States Youth Soccer, New Jersey Youth Soccer, and international standards for birth-year participation. In-house programs and club teams are age appropriate.
This means that in-house programming or club team rosters are made up of players from the same birth year and participate in a format or league with divisions by birth year. Younger players can usually play for a team whose birth year is before their own (sometimes called playing up) but players cannot play for a team whose birth year occurs after their own. Sometimes these divisions are referred to as āUā age groups ā as in U8 (read 8 and under) ā meaning the players on the team are 8 years old or younger when the seasonal year ends.
A seasonal year for most programming in New Jersey begins in the Fall of year 1 and ends in summer of year 2. For example, the 2022/23 seasonal year begins in September of 2022 and ends in August of 2023.
