Gloucester Township, New Jersey - Highland Youth Soccer Club's open tryouts for 2024/2025 club teams begins in April. All age groups will hold tryouts during the weeks of April 15 and April 22 unless otherwise noted in the tryout schedule.
All players who wish to join a competitive club team should register for a tryout and plan to attend both tryouts dates for the age group.

Competitive Club Team Tryouts
HYSC's club teams begin competing in the South Jersey Boys and South Jersey Girls soccer leagues at the U8 age group (birth year 2017) in competitively appropriate flights based on the overall developmental level of the team as it is formed.
Players born in 2017-2007 are eligible to tryout for a club team roster spot. Some age groups have multiple teams representing different levels of development and competitive play. HYSC is an open club and any interested players in the region are eligible to tryout for a club team.
Club teams are formed in April of every calendar year for the upcoming seasonal year during annual open tryouts (the next seasonal year is Fall 2024/Spring 2025). For more information about the club (travel) teams and programs, please visit the HYSC website club-program section.
Elite Club Team Tryouts
HYSC Elite teams represent the highest level of competitive play in youth soccer. Elite teams receive professional, dedicated coaching and training and compete at the highest levels of competitive soccer in South Jersey league or regional elite leagues as well as premier and top-flighted tournament play, depending on the composition of the team and the players commitments.
HYSC Elite teams are a refreshing change from the pay-to-play Academy model. Most academy and premier programs recruit as many players as possible and charge exorbitant tuition and training fees. In those programs, there may be 3 or 4 academy teams in a single age group all paying thousands of dollars per player with no attention to individual growth and no real development. In reality they are just a funding funnel for the academy's top teams and programs.
HYSC Elite is different. The program is focused only on those teams that have achieved important developmental milestones and are ready for a higher level of play. Each team is individually assessed and the program provides the right competitive opportunities based on the team. The program is affordable (most coaches are highly experienced volunteers), provides excellent player development and growth opportunities as well as special circumstances for local athletes to play, grow, and develop together with consistent, high level training and individualized attention.
