The HYSC 2014G Hustlers Win SJ CUP
Highland Youth Soccer Club 2014G Hustlers are champions of the 2024-25 South Jersey Cup tournament.
Voorhees, New Jersey - Highland Youth Soccer Club's 2014G Hustlers triumphed in overtime of the Finals of the 2024-25 South Jersey Cup over the 2014G Mount Laurel United Crush. The 2-1 result capped the multi-season run for the 2014 girls which saw them go undefeated in group play in the fall of 2024 and advance through the spring semi-fnals.
Highland's 2014 girls took a 1-0 lead minutes into the second half of the match, but at the 41' mark Mount Laurel was awarded a Penalty and converted the attempt to level the score at 1-1 as the game entered the late stage of the match. The match required overtime to ultimately decide the contest, with Highland scoring the go-ahead goal minutes into the first 5 minute overtime session. Highland was able to hold off Mount Laurel in the second overtime to secure the SJ Cup championship.
The 8 team U11 flight included 2014 teams for Mount Laurel, Tarkill, Haddonfield and Highland in Group A and Northern Burlington Marlton, Monroe, and Pitman rounding out Group B.
The Hustlers completed the 2024-25 Fall group stage of the South Jersey Cup by collecting 3 wins with a 1-0 result vs eventual finalist Mount Laurel, a 1-0 victory over Tarkill, and a 6-0 win over Haddonfield. Highland scored 8 goals while conceeding none during the group stage.
Group B saw Northern Burlington clinch top seeding after fininshing 2-0-1 on the strength of 6 goals scored while conceeding 0, but it was ultimately Group A's Mount Laurel finishing in the 2 seed that advanced out of the semi-final round by defeating Northern Burlington. Highland defeated Monroe in the semi-finals to earn their slot in the championship game.
The 2014 girls competed in the Krueger division of the SJ CUP which crossed over teams from multiple flights in the seasonal year-long SJ Cup tournament. The top two teams in each group advanced out of the fall group stage and into the knockout round of the spring season. The semi-final and finals rounds were hosted at netral sites selected by the South Jersey Cup competition committee.
