Highland Youth Soccer Club Girls' Travel Program begins at
U8 and continues to U17. We currently have 16 teams participating. Most teams play in the
South Jersey Girls Soccer League (SJGSL). Teams play in both the fall and the spring, however, high
school age teams may choose to play in the spring only. Games are played on Saturdays for U8 to
U14. Games are played on Sundays for U15 and older. There are 10 games per season - five home games
and five away games. Some teams, however, opt to play in Jersey Area Girls Soccer (JAGS)
after U11 to compete against teams other than those in southern New Jersey.
Our Girls' Travel Commissioner is Jenn Storer. You can email Jenn at tjs2@comcast.net

New Jersey Youth Soccer has a calendar year from August 1
st to July 31
st. Whatever age
your player turns during the present calendar year will determine their 'U' age.
Any team playing in South Jersey Girls Soccer League will have 8 - 10 games during a season. Half of those games
will be played at home and the other half away. Away games can be played anywhere in the South Jersey area.
Travel players must attend tryouts during the months of April and May. If for whatever reason, your player
tries to register for a travel team after tryouts, it will be up to the Head Coach in your player's age group, to
determine whether there are any available roster positions. If there are, the coach will invite your player to
a team practice to evaluate whether your player can play at that team's skill level.
Our home games can be played at Highland High School, Triton High School or Gloucester Township Community Park.
Games played in South Jersey Girls Soccer League are played on Saturdays for U8 - U14. U15 and above are played
on Sunday. Any teams playing in a league other than SJGSL can be scheduled on any day.
Highland Youth Soccer Club has its own Director of Player Development who finds and interviews appropriate
professional trainers for our club. One of those trainers will be assigned to your team. Your trainer will
follow a curriculum determined by our Director of Player Development.
Your registration fee covers a uniform, team registration fees, ref fees for teams in SJGSL, 5 -
1 hour training sessions, and player insurance.
Depending on the coach and parents, there may be additional fees.
These additional fees would be to cover additional training sessions, equipment, alternate uniforms,
tournaments, indoor soccer, etc. Depending on the team, these fees may be paid out of pocket or
the team may do fundraising to help offset these costs.
In addition to a league game each weekend during the fall and spring seasons, your child will practice, at a
minimum, two nights per week for ninety minutes. Optionally, your team may participate in tournaments or
indoor soccer. Tournaments typically involve 3-4 games on a weekend, when no league games are scheduled.
Your coach may invite the team to participate in indoor soccer, scheduled during the fall/winter off
season. At the beginning of each season, your coach should be able to tell you specifically
about practices, tournaments and other time commitments.
