Highland Youth Soccer Club's Boys' Travel Team Program currently includes teams competing in the South Jersey Soccer League, Delco, and MAPS leagues. The Boys' Travel Program begins at the U-8 level and currently plays through U-18. Please check out our Coaches/Teams listing for active teams.

Teams play in both the fall and the spring, however, high school age teams may choose to play in the spring only. Most teams are registered with South Jersey Soccer League and their games are played on Sundays. Typically teams registered with SJSL will play from 8-10 games per season with half of those played at home. League games for MAPS and Delco may be played on any day and will be scheduled by the coach.

Our Boys Travel Commissioner is Sandeep Mehtani. You can email Sandeep at boystravel@hysc.org with any questions or concerns.

How do I determine what 'U' age my player is?

New Jersey Youth Soccer has a calendar year from August 1st to July 31st. Whatever age your player turns during the present calendar year will determine their 'U' age.

Where will I travel for games?

Any team playing in South Jersey Soccer League will have 8 - 10 games during a season. Half of those games will be played at home and the other half away. Away games can be played anywhere in the South Jersey area.

How do I get my young player on a team?

Travel players must attend tryouts during the months of April and May. If for whatever reason, your player tries to register for a travel team after tryouts, it will be up to the Head Coach in your player's age group, to determine whether there are any available roster positions. If there are, the coach will invite your player to a team practice to evaluate whether your player can play at that team's skill level.

Where will home games be played?

Our home games can be played at Highland High School, Triton High School or Gloucester Township Community Park.

When will games be played?

Games played in South Jersey Soccer League are played on Sundays for U8 - U18. Any teams playing in a league other than SJSL can be scheduled on any day.

What kind of training will my player get?

Highland Youth Soccer Club has its own Director of Player Development who finds and interviews appropriate professional trainers for our club. One of those trainers will be assigned to your team. Your trainer will follow a curriculum determined by our Director of Player Development.

What does my registration fee cover?

Your registration fee covers a uniform, team registration fees, ref fees for teams in SJSL, 5 - 1 hour training sessions, and player insurance.
Back to FAQ

Besides the registration fee, are there any other fees I should be aware of?

Depending on the coach and parents, there may be additional fees. These additional fees would be to cover additional training sessions, equipment, alternate uniforms, tournaments, indoor soccer, etc. Depending on the team, these fees may be paid out of pocket or the team may do fundraising to help offset these costs.
Back to FAQ

What type of time commitment should my young player expect?

In addition to a league game each weekend during the fall and spring seasons, your child will practice, at a minimum, two nights per week for ninety minutes. Optionally, your team may participate in tournaments or indoor soccer. Tournaments typically involve 3-4 games on a weekend, when no league games are scheduled. Your coach may invite the team to participate in indoor soccer, scheduled during the fall/winter off season. At the beginning of each season, your coach should be able to tell you specifically about practices, tournaments and other time commitments.
